Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop a local based model for early detection and early intervention of disabilities which match the characteristics of Suwon area in order to detect and intervene of children under 5 years old who have disabilities or who are exposed to risk of disability due to developmental delays. In this study, first, we established a cooperation system with institutions (health, medical, education, childcare, welfare, parent groups) related to early detection and early intervention in Suwon. In addition, The theoretical review on early detection and intervention, the analysis of system in Suwon, and the survey on the actual condition were conducted. In this way, the principles of expertise, integration, sustainability, interdisciplinarity, and accessibility were developed. The two models were derived by setting the Suwon Support Center for Developmental Disabilities, which will open in 2019, as a control institution for the integrated system.
